Under the Carrorian Sun (primer)
Jan. 12th, 2022 05:21 pmCreation is a solitary act, and having an active audience can be a good and bad thing. If the audience is too large, therein lies the risk of losing one's self to the self imagined by one's audience. There is some optimism and hope that residing within a smaller web will allow for some sense of non-futility, without compromise of personal ideals.
Current thoughts on Under the Carrorian Sun are as follows.
TITLE: (working) Under the Carrorian Sun
PROJECT TYPE: Comic, digital
RATIONALE: Completed MEMORY.78 and felt satisfied, then thought "but what if...a longer form comic project"? Could not come up with a good script, puttered around despondently for a few days, before remembering this was a tale that had been wanting to be told, but was always pushed down in favor of "more timely pursuits". Turns out it has a lot of appeal right now, and isn't that enough to work on it?
SUMMARY: An ex-soldier with little left to live for is given one final responsibility.
GENRE/TONE:in spite of the summary the tone is supposed to be humorous drama
INITIAL THOUGHTS
This is honestly a terrifying project to take on because it is looking to be about five parts long if the execution is as currently planned. However, it is possible to only do one or two of the parts, or perhaps take a long break in-between parts if the subject matter is getting dry.
The issue of grayscale vs color is always something to consider, although grayscale would probably be the better choice in this undertaking, particularly with regards to the sheer volume of work to be done.
Maybe it would be fun to actually collect reference material before starting the project, rather than winging it through the whole time. There is the matter of needing to set up a lot of 3D framework for the current workflow.
This is...a really damn big project.
NEXT MOVES: Gathering the reference material, continuing work on the script/outline.
